I'm currently in the fabulous state of Minnesota after nearly two months on the road. I arrived last Saturday, when the day's theme seemed to be "twins."
Here I am holding my friend Jenny's 4-week-old twins. I usually only held one at a time, but this moment was super-special. They live in Michigan with their two older sisters, the oldest of whom is my god-daughter. I left them on Saturday to go to Minnesota.
Holly and Heidi picked me up from the airport: identical twins! I worked with Holly for two years in youth ministry, and it was really lovely to see them both.
Teri came to pick me up and we went with her two kids to a park to meet John and Niki and their twin girls!
This week I stayed mostly with Paul and Libby and their beautiful family. Rachael invited us over to her house for some homemade Indian food, and Mark had come up from Chicago to hang out. Good times!
Here is Paul with his oldest son, Gibbie, in the parking lot next to their house in Frogtown. Gibbie refers to the church whose parking lot they play in as "the Eating Church" since they offer meals each night to the community. I love staying with Paul and Libby because of who they are. They seek to live simply and well. When with them I get to eat home-made soup from home-made bread bowls, yum!
Paul is an excellent barista. He has been roasting coffee for awhile and recently started doing so professionally. Here he is the first day the coffee shop he works at sold coffee made from beans he roasted! Yum....
Here is Gibbie feeding the ducks yesterday. This young child is an amazing human being, and I was privileged to be with him at his baptism last Sunday and become his godmother.
I was really able to be with friends and family at important moments this trip. Above are my aunt, cousin, and his wife as we celebrated my aunt's birthday!
One of the difficult things about being away is missing significant events in peoples lives, and just in this posting you can see how God allowed me to take part in birthdays, baptisms, and new births, among other things. God's promises are indeed "yes"!!!!!
